Guides

Everything you need to know about using UIXcolors design tools to create accessible, production-ready design systems.

Key Concepts

Understanding the fundamentals

Design Tokens & CSS Variables

Learn how to export and use design tokens in your projects. Includes CSS custom properties, JSON tokens, and Tailwind config.

WCAG Compliance & Accessibility

Understanding contrast ratios, AA/AAA standards, and how to ensure your color palettes meet accessibility requirements.

Where to start

The guides below are task-shaped rather than feature-shaped: each one walks a job through from beginning to end — building an accessible palette, pulling a style guide off a live site, exporting design tokens your build can consume. If you are new here, start with the Color Playground guide and then read the one on accessible palettes; between them they cover most of what the rest assumes.

Guides, handbook and tool pages

Three kinds of documentation live on this site and they answer different questions. These guides explain how to do a job. The handbook at /documentation is the reference: formats, export shapes, integration snippets and the longer FAQ. Each tool page carries its own FAQ about that tool specifically — what it can and cannot do, what it costs, where its limits are.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an account to follow the guides?

Not to read them, and not for most of the steps. The color converter, contrast checker and gradient maker work without signing in at all. The guides that end in a download — style guides, favicons, QR files, image downloads — need a free account, because those steps spend credits.

Is there an API I can call instead?

No. Every endpoint on this site is session-authenticated and internal; there is no public API and no API key to request. Everything documented here is done through the browser interface.

Are the guides available in Russian?

Yes. Every guide exists in both English and Russian at the matching /ru path, and the language switch in the header keeps you on the same page rather than dropping you at the home page.
